How to implement a fingerprint scanner into a safe?
A friend of mine has been given a project in her university course. She should find out how it is possible to implement a biometric fingerprint scanner into a safe (instead of the traditional dials and such), and how much it would cost in total. What I am looking for is the list of parts that will be needed, and the list of processes that should be done, so that I can evaluate the total price based on prices in Iran’s hardware stores. Links with images she can use are encouraged.
The main problem you will have is that the (low-cost) fingerprint scanning components may be awkward to get hold of if you are in Iran.
This may give you some pointers (these are non-US, so may be subject to fewer export restrictions):

Also, fingerprint recog safes are available and quite cheap, so you may get some pointers here:

Biometric fingerprint scan Photo Mugs Biometric fingerprint scan. Computer artwork of a human fingerprint overlaid with a printed circuit board (PCB), representing fingerprint scanning. Fingerprints contain unique patterns that can be used to determine the identity of an individual. When a fingerprint is scanned, a computer will divide the scan into areas that are then compared to information already stored in a database. The process … |

Biometric identification Photo Mugs Biometric identification. Conceptual computer artwork of biometric information that could be incorporated into an electronically-readable identity card. Fingerprints, photographs and data concerning biometric parameters, such as body measurements and DNA profiles, could be encoded and kept on a microchip (indicated by the printed circuits) to be read by a scanner at airports or police stations.
