Which Derwent Pencil Set is best for drawing people?

Is the soft sketch, medium designer or hard technical set better for drawing realistic people? (with blending)

Personally, I use HB for rendering the basic outline sketch first. It isn’t too dark and not too hard. It erases easily. You MAY want to try the H2 but nothing harder. Bear in mind, while the hards provide a lighter sketch appearance they are actually more dense when it comes to being imbedded in the paper and harder to erase. Start with HB.

Then, use a 2B to outline everything, and to add shading. For the heavier shading use a 3B or 4B, but nothing heavier. If you go heavier, you may have a lot of smearing and the graphite will be too heavy to erase. Experiment, see what you’re comfortable with first.

The soft sketch is the best for drawing people. It’s what I use. I sell my art on Ebay.
