Why does my hair feel so soft and silky immediately after a relaxer?

I’ve been perming my hair since I was nine. Nevertheless, I notice that every time I get a perm, my hair is incredily soft, smooth, and bouncy–it almost feels like weave. And this feeling only lasts for about two weeks, however. My question is why is this so, and how can I maintain this feeling in between relaxers (which is usually about 7 weeks)?

Deep conditioning can be done every week to maintain that soft, smooth, bouncy feel.

Deep conditioning is done by washing your hair then distributing the conditioning product throughout your hair (especially the ends!) then putting your hair in a plastic cap and sitting under the dryer for a few minutes. The hair will absorb the product best this way. Afterwards, make sure you rinse completely or you’ll have buildup on your scalp.

I recommend, Mizani conditioners, Aphogee conditioners, and KeraCare conditioners.
